Simon the Earl of Luc (1504 – 1572)
Described as honorable and of a winning disposition, the Earl would become master of Barrole Hall and a collector of weaponry from various cultures. After a few animated and enthusiastic demonstrations with other collectors and military men resulted in ‘accidents’, liquor was banned at his home. His collection stayed intact at Barrole Hall until 1802, when it was looted during the Civil War.
