These table-scapes and coral colors are a common thread in my new series. A self-indulgent escape from my own decay. A transcendental way of painting, with a nod to the Dutch Golden Age still-lives. An uneasy edge and surrealist twist to the familiar; drips, bubbles, and bright colors set against the painterly backgrounds of art history. Whether they contain venom or not, each organism is getting along with the business of living, despite being plucked from their original homes.
